8. 18. 2024 Sunday school
John 15:1-8
1. Hello, everyone!
Welcome to Sunday School today.
Today, we're going to look at the grapevine observation journal.
2.
Here's today's Bible verse.
Let's all read it together:
“I am the vine; you are the branches.
If you remain in me and I in you,
you will bear much fruit;
apart from me you can do nothing.”
JOHN 15:5
3.
Do you know what grafting is?
Grafting is a method where you attach a branch to a tree so that the branch can grow and produce fruit.
When you attach a branch to the tree and wrap it tightly with cloth, over time, the branch will receive nutrients from the tree and start to grow.
4.
Let's talk about the characters in today's lesson.
First, we'll need branches and a tree.
In this story, the branch represents us, and the tree represents Jesus.
We need to stay firmly attached to Jesus.
And the farmer who takes care of us is God.
So, are you ready to start today’s adventure?
Imagine you are the branch, and hold onto this string tightly.
I will take the role of the tree, representing Jesus.
We must stay connected as one.
Never let go of this string!
5.
The farmer does a task called pruning.
Pruning is when the farmer cuts away the small branches.
This process is necessary for the branches to grow well.
(Act as if you are pulling the string hard, mimicking the pruning effect.)
Are you still attached to the tree?
6.
Now, we need to watch out for the wind.
Strong winds might make the branches break.
Hold on to the string tightly!
(To simulate a windy environment, I will use a fan.)
7.
Unfortunately, some branches couldn't withstand the strong wind and fell from the tree.
Branches that fall from the tree cannot bear fruit. They become firewood instead.
8.
What happens to the branches still attached to the tree?
They start to receive nutrients from the tree.
(You’ll put a snack on the string – John will help with this.)
Branches, eat this snack and grow strong!
9.
It’s time to bear fruit!
The grapes grow bigger and eventually produce a bountiful harvest.
This is all thanks to Jesus, who provides us with the nutrients we need.
Our job is to hold on to Jesus completely.
10.
If we hold on to Jesus, the true vine, we will bear beautiful fruit. This brings glory to our God.
Let’s pray.
God, Jesus is our vine, and we are His branches.
We want to stay firmly attached to the vine.
Help us to remain steadfast and not break away from Jesus.
We pray in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
