John 6:11 "The Bread From Heaven"
1.
Hello, Friends.
Welcome to Sunday School.
Today's message is John Chapter 6.
The title is "The Bread from Heaven."
The bread from heaven?
Let’s see what happened to the Israelites.
2.
Jesus was in Galilee, sharing God’s word.
A great crowd of people followed Him because they saw the signs He had performed by healing the sick.
Some people thought Jesus was the greatest healer.
Others believed He would become the king who would rule Israel.
Still, others saw His miracles and thought He could provide everything they needed.
Who is Jesus?
3.
Jesus preached, and by evening, He knew the crowd was hungry.
He said to Philip,
“Where shall we buy bread for these people to eat?”
Actually, Jesus already knew what He was going to do.
He asked this only to test Philip.
4.
Philip answered Him.
Philip was a disciple who was good at math.
He quickly did some calculations.
“It would take more than half a year’s wages to buy enough bread for each one to have a bite!”
He thought it would cost far too much money to feed all the people.
5.
Another disciple, Andrew, spoke up,
“Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many?”
Can two fish and five loaves of bread feed so many people?
6.
Then Jesus took the loaves of bread.
He thanked God for the bread and gave it to the people who were sitting there.
He did the same with the fish, giving them as much as they wanted.
7.
When everyone had enough to eat, He said to His disciples,
“Gather the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted.”
Let’s count how many baskets of bread were left over.
(Count to 12 with the children.)
There were 12 baskets full of leftovers, even after everyone had eaten their fill!
8.
Who is Jesus?
Jesus is the living Son of God.
Jesus is the One who can make anything possible.
Jesus is the One who always cares for our needs.
Jesus watches over us and knows what we need.
Jesus also taught us the importance of giving thanks.
He prayed a prayer of thanks to God before performing the miracle.
Jesus is God, Jesus is our true shepherd, and Jesus works through thanksgiving.
9.
Let us pray.
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for helping us know who Jesus is.
Jesus is God with infinite power.
Jesus is the Shepherd who cares for us.
Jesus is the One who works through thanksgiving.
Help us to know Jesus more and rely on Him.
In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
