John 2 "Jesus changes water into wine."
Hi, Friends!
Welcome to Sunday School.
Today, we are going to look at the first miracle Jesus performed.
Let's see what happened!
When Jesus visited Cana, He was attending a wedding. Look at the picture.
There’s good music, delicious food, a huge and beautiful wedding cake, balloons, friends, and family. It's such a happy time! Everyone was enjoying the wedding party.
Do you know what the most important thing at the wedding party was?
It was the wine! They had been preparing the wine for the wedding for a whole year!
They saved more and more wine so that everyone could enjoy it together.
But, OH NO!
The wine is gone! Look at this jar—it's empty!
The guests will be shocked, and they might go home early. The party will be over.
What can we do?
Do you have any good ideas?
Yes, let’s see what Mary did.
She asked Jesus to solve the problem.
“Jesus, we need your help.”
But Jesus said,
“My time has not yet come.”
It was a difficult answer for Mary.
What was she supposed to do now?
Should she just go back to her seat and be ready to leave?
Should she watch the party end sadly?
No, she didn’t do that.
Mary said to the servants,
“Do whatever He tells you to do.”
Let’s all read this verse together:
“Do whatever He tells you to do.”
Then Jesus said to the servants,
“Fill the jars with water.”
So the servants filled the jars to the top.
They might have had to walk to the fountain or the well for a long time, but they obeyed Jesus.
It was strange—He asked for water, not wine.
But they still obeyed.
They filled six huge jars to the top and brought them to Jesus.
Do you think water can turn into wine?
Who believes it’s possible?
Raise your hand if you think water can become wine!
Let’s see what happened that day.
It's wine!
The people were so surprised!
Jesus had changed the water into wine!
He is the Son of God!
Everyone was amazed.
As you can see, Jesus can do anything with His word. But He often uses people who are willing to listen to Him.
The servants obeyed Jesus, and the water became wine.
Sadness turned into joy!
When we pray to Jesus, He can change anything into something beautiful.
Let’s pray.
Heavenly Father,
We believe that Jesus can change water into wine.
We want to obey Jesus, just like the servants did.
We want to pray to Jesus, just like Mary did.
We know Jesus can change everything.
In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
