1/ Hi, Friends.

Welcome to Sunday School.

Today's Bible verse is John 5:6.
Let's read the verse together:

"Do you want to get well?"

2/ One day, Jesus came to the Jerusalem temple.
On one side of the temple was a pool called Bethesda, where many sick people gathered.

Among them were patients, the blind, the lame, and those paralyzed, all lying in wait.
Why were there so many sick people here?

3/ There was a remarkable rumor about this pool.
Sometimes an angel would come down and stir the water, and whoever entered the water first after it was stirred would be healed.

No matter what the illness, anything could be cured!
It was a miraculous pool.

4/ However, the problem was that only the first person to enter the pool would be healed.
Among all these people, one had to come in first.
Achieving first place was incredibly difficult because everyone wanted to be the first.

5/ Among them was a man who had been paralyzed for 38 years.
He was not just 38 years old; he had suffered for 38 years.
Now, he had become an old man with gray hair.
He had been in pain for a very long time.
He felt tired, struggled, and sometimes became angry and frustrated.
His heart was filled with sadness and anger, and he often felt hopeless.
He couldn’t even attend birthday parties, go to school, or meet his family. He had never tasted delicious food.
His life was full of sorrow.

5/ So, Jesus approached him and asked,
"Do you want to get well?"

If Jesus were to ask you, "Do you want to get well?" how would you respond?

6/ Would you want to say "Yes"?
Or would you want to say "No"?

What do you think the paralyzed man said?
Did he say "Yes"?
(Engage the children for their thoughts.)

7/ Oh no! Instead of saying "Yes," he gave a different answer.
He complained, "No one helps me into the pool when the water is stirred." He felt alone in his struggle.

8/ At that moment, Jesus spoke to him again,
"Get up! Pick up your mat and walk!"

9/ How did the man respond?
Did he obey Jesus’ words?
Or did he ignore them?

10/ The man said, "Yes, Jesus!" and obeyed. He picked up his mat and walked.
By following Jesus’ command, he was healed.

Sometimes, the world is filled with so much news and exciting distractions that it’s easy to get sidetracked. But Jesus is always speaking to us. We must obey His words and respond with "Yes, Jesus!" and live according to His teachings.

11/

Let’s pray.
Heavenly Father,
We can only live by Your word, Jesus.
When we are in pain, help us to rely on Your words.
Enable us to always respond "Yes" to You.
We pray in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
