12. 15. 2024 Sunday school
Luke 1:67-80
1/ Hi, Friends.
Welcome to Sunday School.
2/ Have you ever waited a long time for something exciting? Maybe a birthday or a special trip like Kalahari? It can feel like forever, right?
3/
Today, we're going to hear about a man named Zechariah, who had been waiting for God to keep His promise for a very, very long time. Guess what? God didn't forget. God always keeps His promises!
Zechariah was John the Baptist's dad. When John was born, Zechariah was filled with the Holy Spirit.
He sang a special song to praise God.
4/ Zechariah starts by thanking God because God promised to send a Savior a long time ago. God told Abraham, David, and many prophets that He would send someone to save His people.
Who is the Savior for everyone?
(Kids might answer…)
5/ Yes, it is Jesus. The promise was coming true!
6/ Jesus Brings Us Light and Peace.
Zechariah's song says that Jesus is like the rising sun after a dark night. When the sun rises, it lights up everything, and we can see clearly. Imagine there is no sun and we are in darkness. Can we see anything?
(No...)
Jesus helps us see God's love and live in His peace.
6/ We Have a Job to Do!
Zechariah also talked about his son, John.
John's job was to get people ready for Jesus by telling them to follow God. Guess what? We can do that too! We can tell others about Jesus and share His love.
7/ How Can We Shine Jesus' Light?
We can be kind to a friend who is sad or lonely.
We can pray for a friend who needs help.
We can tell someone about how much Jesus loves them.
Just like John the Baptist helped prepare the way for Jesus, we can share God's love with others.
Let's pray.
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for always keeping Your promises.
Thank You for sending Jesus to bring us light and peace.
Help us to share His love with others every day.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
