John 3:5 "Born Again"
1. Hello, friends!
Welcome to Sunday School.
Today's title is "Born Again."
Let's find out what happened today!
2.
It was late at night.
Shhh! Everyone was asleep.
But wait, someone was coming to see Jesus. Who could it be?
Do you see someone in the distance?
3.
Oh, it was Nicodemus!
Do you know who he is?
Let me introduce him.
Nicodemus was a Bible teacher.
He was very smart—he knew every Bible verse by heart. Amazing, right?
He was also kind and gentle.
Everyone in the Jewish community loved him.
Not only that, he was a leader of the Jews.
Smart, rich, famous, popular, a genius, a leader, and a teacher!
In one word, Nicodemus seemed like the perfect man.
It looked like he had everything and didn’t need anything more.
4.
But despite all this, Nicodemus wanted to know more about Jesus and the kingdom of God.
He said, “Teacher, we know that you are sent from God. No one can do the miracles you do unless God is with him.”
Nicodemus wanted to understand Jesus and God.
5.
Let’s read Jesus’ response:
“Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit.”
6.
Born again?
What does that mean?
Can someone really be born again?
Did you understand what Jesus meant?
7.
Nicodemus was confused and asked, “I’m already an old man. Can I become small again and go back into my mother’s tummy? Is that possible? I don’t get it...”
8.
So, Jesus explained the truth again:
Let’s read it together.
“Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit.”
9.
We need to be born of water and the Spirit!
But what does that mean?
It’s still hard to understand, right?
10.
So, Jesus told a story from long ago, about the people of Israel in the wilderness.
They were bitten by snakes, and many were dying.
They prayed, “God, please save us!”
11.
God told Moses that anyone who looked at the bronze snake would live.
Even though snakes were all around, those who believed God's word and looked at the bronze snake were saved.
Let’s practice: imagine not looking at the snakes but only at the bronze snake. Can you do it?
12.
That bronze snake actually symbolized Jesus on the cross.
Jesus died on the cross for us, to wash away our sins and to give us the Holy Spirit.
When we believe in Jesus who died on the cross, we can be born again of water and the Spirit.
Nicodemus didn’t understand Jesus’ words that night,
but later, when he saw Jesus on the cross, he finally understood and was born again.
I hope all of you will also believe in Jesus on the cross and be born again!
Let’s pray:
Heavenly Father,
We want to be born again, of water and the Spirit.
We want to look to Jesus.
Jesus is our Savior and our God.
Please fill our hearts with the Holy Spirit.
We pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.
